Fashion icon and new host of Bravo TV’s The Fashion Show, Iman, graces the cover of the December issue of Harper’s Bazaar.  Iman dishes the dirt about her 18 year marriage to rocker hubby, David Bowie, her new gig on Bravo TV, cooking and what is the worst thing about being a parent.

I am so loving the spread.  After reading the Harper’s Bazaar interview I’ve realized that not only is Iman beautiful, but really down to earth, just your typical wife and mom…and that’s what being POSH is all about!

Parenthood:

The worst thing about being a parent…The early mornings. There is soccer and music class at 7:30 A.M. Remember, I am 55. I can only take so much!

Marriage:

David doesn’t fight. He is English, so he just stays quiet. I’m the screamer. Then he always makes me laugh. It’s like cabaret. I keep him entertained too. I still fancy him—totally!—after all these years.

Role Model:

My father. He taught me how to be a parent and gave me a positive connection with men because he is a gentleman. And that is what attracted me to David. He is a gentle soul.

What’s for Dinner:

I vowed to myself when I got married that I would cook every night. I find it very therapeutic…tonight is Branzino with lemon. And David likes risotto, but I can’t do risotto tonight. It takes time, and I have homework to do with my daughter. Maybe a salad and orzo. And David buys dessert.

Actress, former queen talk show host and producer of the documentary The Business of Being Born (a must-see!)Ricki Lake appeared on “The Wendy Williams Show” this morning.  Lake dished about her boys, life after talk show, finding love after divorce and her powerful book “Your Best Birth: Know all your options, discover the natural choices, and take back the birth experience”.

Ricki is an advocate for child birth choices and has team up with her friend, Abby Epstein, to discuss on air to promote the choices best for women during pregnancy.  Epstein mentioned that she had a VBAC Delivery (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) with her second child. As I and most woman may think that once you have had c-section you always a c-section, however Epstein and Lake both disagree, they both say that this is not the case and that is why the book was written “women should care about the process about giving birth and have access to choice.”

Your Best Birth is devoted to helping mothers “explore the full spectrum of choices you have in giving birth.” The authors, Lake and  define a “best birth” as “one where you feel empowered because you know all your options and are confident in the decisions you have made about your birth.”  They state, “we believe that you can place the health and well-being of your newborn as your highest priority and still have an optimal, empowering experience that is right for you both – whether that is in your bed, in your bathtub, in a hospital room, or on an operating table.”

Our favorite celebrity mother and fashionista, Sarah Jessica Parker opens up to Vogue about her decision of surrogacy, her new twins, and marriage to Matthew Broderick.

On having children with a surrogate mother: “Meeting your children rather than giving birth to them, it’s as if, um, it’s—suspended animation. The gestational experience is gone. It’s as if everything else disappears for a moment, and the world goes silent and—I can’t explain it except to say that nothing else existed. I don’t remember anything but the blanket on the bed that they were lying on and my husband’s face and their faces and my sons. It’s literally as if sound is sucked from the room. Time stands still. It’s so different, and equally extraordinary.”

This issue of Vogue is on newsstands now.
