With always being on-the-go with my active toddler, its sometimes hard making healthy food choices that’s right for both my mind and my body, so when the folks over at Lichi contacted me about their healthy and natural weight management brand, Lichi Super Fruit, I jumped at the chance. They sent me over a full line of their Lichi Super Fruit program: consisting of a detox, probiotic, meal replacement shake and superfruit supplements.

What sold me about the Lichi brand is that its said to offer a lifestyle approach to managing weight, that focuses not only on losing weight, but improving overall health. With diet and exercise tips, they encourage people to “Live The Lichi Lifestyle”. These products are made with 100% Lychee extract and 16 other star nutritional ingredients, like Resveratrol, Green Tea and Acai. In other words, all natural!

I have been on the Lichi Super Fruit system for about 3 weeks now and I LOVE it.  I started with the Chocolate Delight Meal Replacement, which I will have usually for lunch.  Its chocolatley, frothy and taste really yummy…usually for lunch I would look for anything that I can easily gooble down (did someone say Burger King), but with this quick drink, my meal can now go anywhere with me.

Then last week, I went on the Total Body Detox. At first, I had my reservations since I had never been on a detox before, but in order to give you an accurate review I went right to it.  The way that the Detox works is that you drink a one (1) 3 oz. bottle each morning on an empty stomach for six days. Not sure what I was expecting when I took my first sip, but it tasted similar to a flavored tea. During this time, its recommends that you adopt the following healthy habits in order to achieve the best results:

  • Aim to get at least 30 to 60 minutes of moderate physical activity into your day.
  • Eat a diet rich in vegetables, fruit, whole grains, and protein.
  • Stay away from unhealthy saturated or trans fats.
  • Fuel your body with plenty of water to replenish your body’s hydration levels.
  • Get plenty of sleep, at least 8 hours a night, so that your body can properly rest.

Sounds ok to me!

Since I have never been on any other sort of detox, I have nothing to compare it to, but this I must say, I enjoyed!  I felt energized and didn’t have any cravings for fast food meals and with no side affects (which I must say is key!).

So, are you looking to get a jumpstart to your new body and new you?? Find out how after the jump.

In a post titled You Know You Are A Hoarder When…I mentioned my friend’s love for couponing. She isn’t the “extreme coupouner”, as protrayed on the TLC reality show, but she does have great money saving tips for you and your family, which is why she is this week’s feature spotlight.

Let’s welcome Crystal Holloway, a wife, Stay At Home Mom, former teacher, and now owner of a crochet line called Sylvia Enid Designs. In less than two months of giving birth to her son (now 3 years old), she found herself unemployed and becoming a SAHM, which has unexpectedly fulfilled her.  Determined to find as much joy in work, as she does from being a mom, she took some time to listen to her inner voice and follow the path that God was leading her towards. Recently, she launched Super SAHM 930, a blog catered to meal plans and recipes, preschool activities and educational aids, product reviews and what else….money saving tips. Read her journey below:

Posh Mom of the Week: Crystal Holloway

Mommy Posh: Tell us a little about yourself. Your family.

Crystal Holloway: I love crafting, writing, and reading. My husband and I have been married for five years and we have two boys, aged 17 and 3.

MP: You are a mom, a wife, a woman – what do you take most pride in?

CH: I take most pride in being a mom. I have fulfilled many of my life’s dreams, but ultimately I knew I would never feel satisfied until I became a mom. It’s been a long, painful journey, but worth every moment. Becoming a mom has made me a better wife and woman.

MP: Tell us about your blog, Super SAHM 930 and your business website  Sylvia Enid Designs. What made you launch them?

CH: My blog, Super SAHM 930 has a little of everything. Each week you’ll find recipes, preschool lesson plans, product reviews, money saving tips, and much more. I’ve always loved to write and I was a teacher before becoming a SAHM. Blogging about things I’ve learned along the way was a natural extension for me. I became a first time mom and lost both my grandmothers within one year. I began to use crochet (a craft I learned from my paternal grandmother) as a creative and emotional outlet more and more. At the same time I was looking for a way to honor my grandmothers’ memories and find a business I could do from home. My line of crocheted goods, Sylvia Enid Designs was born.

MP: As an avid couponer, do you relate to the women on the TLC’s show “Extreme Couponing” or extreme couponers in general?

CH: I can relate to the women on “Extreme Couponing” in some ways. When I’m doing a transaction where I know I’m getting a lot of product for free or very close to it I get a rush. My nerves are on edge until all of my coupons go through and I’m on my way out of the store with my booty. I DO NOT let couponing consume my life or my home. I spend about three hours a week on list writing and sorting and clipping coupons. I only get what I need and donate my excess or freebies I know I won’t use to my family, friends, and charity.

MP: Any tips on how to be a smart food shopper?

CH: Whether or not you coupon my #1 tip for being a smart food shopper is to stockpile. When you see an item your family uses regularly on sale don’t buy just enough to last until you go grocery shopping next week. Buy enough to last up to 12 weeks because stores usually rotate sales every 6-12 weeks. By doing this you will never run out of a staple and be forced to pay full price.

MP: Who are your style inspirations and why?

CH: I have a pretty eclectic sense of fashion. My look may shift from Bree Van de Kamp to Erykah Badu and everything in between. Both of my grandmothers were very prim and proper Jamaicans and taught me how to be a lady. Because of them no matter what I wear I make sure my clothes and hair are always neat, clean, and fit well.

MP: How would you describe yourself as a mom?

CH: I would describe myself as a well rounded mom. I do structured activities with my children like schoolwork, playgroups and sports, but I also let Moose A. Moose babysit when I’m working on a project.

MP: What’s your life motto?

CH: “Don’t worry about a thing, cause every little thing’s gonna be alright.” -Bob Marley

MP: Fill in the blank: I may have too many _____

CH: pants

MP: My signature style look is _____

CH: I don’t think I have a signature style look, but my favorite article of clothing is skinny jeans. Change the top and shoes and you can go from soccer mom to hot mama in no time!

Each week we will bring to you a mom that signifies overall POSHness, a mom that reveals real stories and experiences that celebrate, entertain and inspire the woman, who is a mom.

Thanks to a wide range of costumes sold online and in stores at Pottery Barn Kids, I was able to order Lil B’s Halloween costume with no fuss or rush, as early as August.  With Lil B’s love for animals and sound of nature I decided to turn Lil B into a baby dinosaur (even though he was mistaken for a dragon).  Pottery Barn Kids had a great assortment of costumes to choose from.  What I loved most about this costume is the quality. Its not like any other costume that you will find elsewhere.  The body suit and headpiece is stuffed with polyester padding and sewn of fleece with cotton lining just in time for the fall month.  The headpiece was a little too big for his head, which seriously was not a big deal, since he kept pulling it off.  I will be sure to be ordering from them again next year.

So, if you are thinking about next year be sure to check online on Pottery Barn Kids. You will love it! It may be a little pricey ($54.00), but if you buy before hand you may be able to get a discounted price.

Got a cute pic of your kids in their Halloween costume?  Send us your favorite pics.  Would love to feature you on Mommy Posh.

This week’s Posh Mom Of The Week is stay-at-home mom, wife, interior designer and President of Elizabeth Holmes Designs, Elizabeth “Liz” Holmes.

READ: WEEK 1: POSH MOM OF THE WEEK

This POSH “mompreneur” chats is up with us about her family, her signature look and how the late Steve Jobs led her to finding her passion.

MommyPosh: Tell us a little about yourself. Your family.

Liz:  I grew up in a home with white walls, plastic covered chairs and china that came out only on special occasions. Who I am today is the exact opposite of that. I love color…everywhere; the only plastic I like is the kind that can be swiped, and I believe any occasion is special if it’s with people you love. When you have your own family you realize that you can follow tradition or establish your own. I have a 13 ½ month old son with my husband of six years. I am fortunate to be a working mom who gets to work from home and spend time with my son.

MP: As an interior designer, who and what are your inspirations?

Liz: I’m inspired by Charlotte Moss, Sheila Bridges, and the late Steve Jobs. By transitioning from a career on Wall Street, Charlotte made me realize it’s never too late to do something you love, especially when it’s in your blood. Sheila is the epitome of effortless style and beauty. [On my personal blog] I included a commencement speech that Steve Jobs gave at Stanford. What I want my son to get from that speech some day is that you have to “find what you love.”

I find inspiration in vintage clothing stores, yard sales, walking through the garment district, strolling through a museum on a Sunday morning. I’m also inspired by past pop culture — be it hairstyles like flips and afros to saddle shoes, shell-top Adidas and Cazal glasses to the heavy chunky jewelry worn by Run DMC and Salt-n-Pepa to images of Times Square pre-Disneyfication.  Simply put, if you observe what’s around you, you can find inspiration just about anywhere.

MP: You went to law school and worked in real estate and government, what led you to become an interior designer?

Liz: It took me quite a while to find my voice, to take a leap of faith in myself and my craft and to say this is what I do best and this is what I’m going to do professionally. For as long as I can remember, it was drilled into me that I was going to be a lawyer or a doctor — no other options. So I enrolled in law school. After my first semester, I knew it wasn’t for me, but fear of disappointing the people who sacrificed so much for me eventually led to another arduous semester after another until I graduated. That led to jobs so dissatisfying that I became physically ill on a Sunday because it meant the start of yet another work week. Have you ever had a performance review at your job right before it’s time to receive or be denied a raise? Try doing a performance review of your life and if you come to the conclusion that you’re doing what you’re doing for all the wrong reasons, then it’s time to move on.

MP: You are a mom, a wife, a woman, and an interior designer – what do you take most pride in?

Liz: I take most pride in being a mom who balances career and family.

MP: Tell us about your website and blog – Elizabeth Holmes Design?

Liz: My website profiles some of the work I’ve done for my clients. My blog, DECOR+AID features design guidance and inspiration, as well as information on products I’m working with and also spotlights  artisans I enjoy. My site started  out as a blog in 2009, but has evolved into a full-fledged website over the past year.

MP: If you could compare being a POSH MOM to a POSH SPACE, what would you do?

Liz: I think your home is an extension of who you are and should be reflective of your personal taste and style. As a designer, I am constantly looking at what’s happening in fashion in terms of color and texture, and I often bring that to my design aesthetic. My ideal decor is easy, modern and eclectic. If you walk into my office you’ll find Asian-inspired pieces and a lot of texture  – from big heavy throws to alpaca pillows.  My dining room is black and white, giving me free range to play with colorful linens and plates and to also bring focus on my food. My living room is neutral with pops of aqua and orange. I must have been channeling my husband’s Miami Dolphins love.

My decor has changed with life changes and the biggest game-changer has been the birth of my son. I don’t restrict his enjoyment of our home, nor do I make certain areas off limits. I choose textiles and accessories that are stylish but easy to maintain because at the end of the day you can’t be tied to objects. And if you’re afraid that a white flokati rug is going to be a canvas for projectile vomit, then you go in a different direction.

MP: Who is your style inspiration and why?

Liz: Clodagh. Because of her use of natural materials. When I walk into someone’s home for a design consult, I’m always amazed at what they’re willing to toss in order to achieve their ideal decor. I think you can always improve upon what you have through some form of modification, be it upholstery, staining, or painting.  Repurposing an object is part of the green design movement, and I try to incorporate that into my services as much as possible.

MP: How would you describe yourself as a mom?

Liz: Like any first-time mom I’m anxious, nervous, restless, sleep-deprived, excited, and ultimately hopeful.

MP: What’s your life motto?

Liz: Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. – Dr. Seuss.

Liz: My signature look is sophisticated, modern.
