I have posted several times about my advocacy for breastfeeding, but moms I didn’t always feel that way.

At first, breastfeeding seemed like a choir, a choir that caused me to leak, squirt and chaff.  Sorry to have painted that vivid picture, but moms-to-be you need to know. Also getting my son to latch on was indeed a task in its itself. Ok, so maybe “love” is a strong word for the title of this post, but by reading on you will understand.

Take it from me, its a road that not every moms ventures, but if you do then this post is for you.

So here are my 10 reasons why I loved to breastfeed my son.

1. Instant Weight Loss: Forget the gym, I was able to loss 10 pounds in just a few short weeks of breastfeeding.

2. Talk About Multitasking:  With the help of my My Breastfriend, a cool nursing pillow, I was able to sip on water, chat on the phone and read a book.

3. Instant Bonding Moments: I loved gazing into my son’s eyes, playing with his toes and holding his hands while breastfeeding.  Sorry Dads!

It is not easy being a Posh Mommy when your little boy becomes so attached to you that leaving a room will illicit the tell tale whimper of an impending flood of tears that will just break your heart.  Being a stay at home has some amazing benefits and also some unfortunate drawbacks.  My son is learning new things everyday, I can make sure to keep him engaged and not hooked on the DVD player, I can keep him safe, and watch what he eats.  However, being the main adult in his life for 10 hours a day while my husband is at work has created a bit of a 16 month old momma’s boy.

For months all he said and wanted was Dada and I kept asking why isn’t he saying Mamma?  Well now Mommy is his favorite word – so much so that when looking at my husband he is also referred to as Mommy.  I’ll admit I still find it cute as anything when he looks at me and says mommy.  His eyes light up, his arms reach out, and you just want to eat him up, but it does make walking out of the apartment upsetting for both of us. Just in time for Mother’s Day, the Social Security Administration released their list of top popular baby names for 2010.

With the growing trend of reality TV, pop culture and movies, new parents are finding inspiration in interesting places, including the MTV reality series“Teen Mom”, the“Twilight” series and even Angelina Jolie’s kids.

So what names made it to the top of the list, drum roll please……

Isabella and Jacob tops the baby names list.

The SSA also tracks which names are trending — that is, which have the biggest jumps in popularity. While MTV’s “Teen Mom” reality series might be viewed as a cautionary tale by some, others are clearly finding inspiration — at least for names. The two names that saw the biggest increases in popularity are Maci and Bentley. Maci Bookout and her baby son, Bentley, were featured on “Teen Mom.”

The second-biggest trending boys’ name is Kellan — actor Kellan Lutz portrays Emmett Cullen in the popular series of movies based on the “Twilight” books, which inspired their own naming trend last year.

Rounding out the top trendy boys’ names is Knox, one of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s toddler twins.

In a recent post, I talked about lessons learned about being a first time mom, so after 16 months of raising Lil B, my “Sex and The City” life seems like a distant memory…

So in honor of Mother’s Day, here are 5 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT BEING A MOM – do you have a similar list??

1-Everyday is a new day. My how we take things for granted.  Seeing everything new from my son’s eyes is like I too am experiencing it for the very first time.  My son loves bird watching.  So our daily trips to the Greenburgh Nature Center is the highlight of my son’s day.  By reading up on the different types of birds not only am I teaching my son something new but, I too am learning.  Whenever my son hears a bird fluttering around his window he immediately perks up, points to the window and screeches with delight.  It’s these little things that I realize how profoundly my world view had changed.

2- Unconditional love. Sorry hubby but nothing can compare to the love one has for their kids.  To love unconditionally simply means that parents accept their children completely and without restrictions or stipulations. And of course the power of unconditional love makes our children strong. View Post
