Inspiration Corner: The Hepburn Style

Every POSH gal must have at least one Little Black Dress aka LBD in her closet.  Wearing black has always been my choice of color, maybe its a New York City thing, but I find  that wearing black is a simple way  – hear that Moms – from getting comfy to chic in only a few moments.  By adding the appropriate accessories (dark oversized shades, chunky jewelry, even a classic up do) can turn this look into pure POSHness!

My new favorite LBD is from White House/Black Market. I recently wore it at my cousin’s wedding (I’m the gal on the right, if you are here for the first time) and got several compliments, specifically from the details on the dress (which may be hard to see from the picture), but with its grosgrain ribbon and ethereal tulle makes it a one of a kind. It also has pockets.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE dresses with pockets – no purse needed!

1. Dress: White House/Black Market, Strapless Tafetta Dress, $168

2. Jewlery: Banana Republic, White Pearl Necklace (circa 2009), $60

My Inspiration:

The black Givenchy dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in the opening of the 1961 romantic-comedy film Breakfast at Tiffany’s ($30, amazon.com) paved the way for fashionistas, like myself.  The dress is cited as one of the most iconic items of clothing in the history of the twentieth century.
