Grab And Go Meals For The Entire Family

July-2012-100-copy

Before I had children I never had to worry about what I was going to have for breakfast or for a quick snack.  I worked in midtown Manhattan and there was a huge selection for me to choose from at anytime of the day.  Unfortunately, once you have a 4 year old, a 1 year old, and a husband, the days of not thinking ahead about meals is a luxury you really can’t afford.  If you aren’t careful you end up at the drive-thru more than you should, you skip meals, or you get stuck in a routine that makes meal time boring.  Let’s be honest if you are boring with your food your children will be bored right along with you.  I have learned that as a mom on the go it’s sometimes hard finding ways to incorporate healthy snacks in my kids diet.

I have gotten in the habit of combining a few Kellogg’s cereals in a to-go bowl to make sure my son has a quick snack during the day at school or something to much on in the car.   I like to use Kellogg’s Crispix, Kellogg’s Corn Pops, and Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats.  These three create a nice selection of crunchy, tasty goodness that my son loves to eat.  Not only does my son enjoy to snack down on these little treats, I have found myself and husband also digging in for a quick bite.  It’s amazing how something so simple can fill you up and make you feel satisfied – this keeps me from the cookies, candies, and fries.

When you think about a week with a family of four you are talking about 28 meals a week plus snacks.  Kellogg’s takes some of the guess work out of my week and makes me comfortable knowing that I am giving my family a healthy alternative to snack on.  As an added bonus you just pop in some milk and you have yourself a quick on the go breakfast.  This is great for me for days I don’t get time to eat a breakfast at home before driving my son to school.  It’s amazing how something so simple can keep your day on track.  I will even put a bowl of Crispix in my husband’s bag so he can be sure to eat breakfast at work.  He is at his desk a lot and when he misses breakfast he usually ends up with pizza or fast food for lunch.  So, a simple meal to go lets my family get off to a great start every day.  Check out great start tips, advice and cool recipes from Team Kellogg’s and #GreatStarts here.
