  • Halloween Candy Buy Back:  Bring any left over candy to your local dentist office and they will send your candy to Operation Gratitude or other Military Support Groups.  Operation Gratitude sends the candy to U.S. Military deployed in harm’s way.  What a great way to Patriotic.
  • Toss some in pancake or muffin batter for chocolate chip surprise. Yummy.
  • Save it for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  With round-the-clock family and neighbors wishing you well for the holidays, what is a great way to say Happy Holidays with a goodie bag of delicious treats
  • Donate it! What a great way to keep someone smiling if you drop off your leftover candy to shelters. Who doesn’t love a delicious treat.
  • Take them to the office and share with your co-workers.
  • Planning a bachelorette party?  make a necklace with lollipops and candies for the bride-to-be
  • Use colorful candies for collages or picture frames

Thank god for my BFF, she is fun, loud, a great listener and SINGLE!  Yes, I said it – SINGLE! Don’t get me wrong I love my married with kids life but, there are times when I need to have a glass of wine and not talk about spit up, what’s for dinner or just simply have an adult conversation.

No matter how old our kids are, we moms need our confidantes. These six are lifesavers — but before you freak out, thinking, “I don’t even have six friends,” don’t worry: One woman might fill several roles, making you one lucky gal.
1. The Single Gal Pal – This is the perfect gal pal to plan a getaway with – for the day, the weekend or just for a few hours, you and her can have tons of fun without the baby.
2. Just-Like-Me Mom – This is the mom that you meet at gymboree or at the grocery store.  She is experiencing exactly what you are going through.  Both of you can compare notes and lean on each other for support.
3. The Well-Rounded Mom – She gets you, she’s been-there, done that type of mom. If you have questions about your teething baby, baby proofing your home, or choosing the right pediatrician she has words of wisdom for you.
4. The Babysitter – She loves kids!  take advantage of her when you want to have date night with your hubby.
5. Shopping Buddy – This is your glam friend. Every mom, needs this gal pal around.  As a mom, we tend to forget about what’s in fashion but, this gal pal can put you back in the swing of things.
6. What-You-See-It-What-You-Get – She’s honest and outspoken and will tell you when you are acting a little nutty.  Honesty is the best policy.

Actress, former queen talk show host and producer of the documentary The Business of Being Born (a must-see!)Ricki Lake appeared on “The Wendy Williams Show” this morning.  Lake dished about her boys, life after talk show, finding love after divorce and her powerful book “Your Best Birth: Know all your options, discover the natural choices, and take back the birth experience”.

Ricki is an advocate for child birth choices and has team up with her friend, Abby Epstein, to discuss on air to promote the choices best for women during pregnancy.  Epstein mentioned that she had a VBAC Delivery (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) with her second child. As I and most woman may think that once you have had c-section you always a c-section, however Epstein and Lake both disagree, they both say that this is not the case and that is why the book was written “women should care about the process about giving birth and have access to choice.”

Your Best Birth is devoted to helping mothers “explore the full spectrum of choices you have in giving birth.” The authors, Lake and  define a “best birth” as “one where you feel empowered because you know all your options and are confident in the decisions you have made about your birth.”  They state, “we believe that you can place the health and well-being of your newborn as your highest priority and still have an optimal, empowering experience that is right for you both – whether that is in your bed, in your bathtub, in a hospital room, or on an operating table.”
